Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky was born on September 17, [O.S. 5 September] 1857, in Russia. He is widely regarded as a pioneering rocket scientist and astronautic theorist. Alongside the renowned German physicist Hermann Oberth and American engineer Robert H. Goddard, he is recognized as one of the founders of modern rocketry and space exploration. His groundbreaking work has inspired generations of Soviet rocket engineers, including the illustrious Sergei Korolev and Valentin Glushko, who went on to play crucial roles in the Soviet space program's success. Tsiolkovsky resided in a secluded log cabin on the outskirts of Kaluga, approximately 200 kilometers southwest of Moscow. He maintained a reclusive lifestyle, often appearing enigmatic and eccentric to his local neighbors.
