Konami has produced stunning Space 1999 Eagle Replicas measuring over 11cm in length and intricately detailed for their scale. The set of files prints an impressive display base for these Konami Eagles. Inspired by the Landing Pad designed for tiny ERTL Eagles from a model kit, this display base was the original intention. A related diorama emerged coincidentally. Print the Base, House, and Extension in white; Base_Black in black; and Base_Red in red. The bases fit snugly into the Base_White frame, although pin holes may not align perfectly, allowing only one valid orientation. To help with this, a small notch is added to the upper left hole of the red base. Two configurations are provided for smoke trails during lift-off: flat for an even display and tilted for a dramatic effect. Photos show both options, and further combinations may be explored. However, glue will be required to complete this model kit, with clear binary epoxy cement or Krazy Glue suggested. Sadly, the Konami Eagle must be provided separately. This design is an evolution of an earlier model uploaded as Thing #129700, adding pegs to the base and holes in the deck levels, which fit into sculpted smoke trails using Maya's Sculpt tool. A forced-perspective view of a Moonbase Alpha Eagle lift-off is showcased. Print the house, base, and extension in white, while the rocket trails appear semi-translucent natural for better smoke effect. The deck pieces are in black and red. Clear filament may be used for smoke trails as well. Interestingly, on an Afinia printer, a flat surface is printed diagonally. To overcome this issue with the red cross landing platform, it was rotated 45 degrees to print correctly.
