Today, Cochin Ceramic Art is not only found on temples but also treasures of Taiwan. It originated in the Ming and Qing dynasties as soft, glazed pottery from Fujian or Guangdong provinces. Taiwanese artists like Ye Linzi mastered the art of sculpture and ceramics, far surpassing its origins. The intricate process requires skillful hands in shaping, carving, painting, and firing. Their works are renowned for their vibrant colors and weighty texture, often featuring traditional characters or auspicious creatures that ward off evil spirits and attract good fortune. They're frequently presented as gifts to foreign dignitaries by the Taiwanese government.
