Kohler Toilet Flush Arm

Kohler Toilet Flush Arm

thingiverse

Designed this as a crude replacement for Kohler's one piece arm/flush mechanism which is glued together so when the plastic arm breaks off, you need to buy a completely new flush handle/system which could be costly if you have a nice metal flusher. Luckily mine was plastic, and I figured designing this "crown" (kind of like a tooth crown, eh?) with an arm attached to it would be quicker than summoning my apartment complex's amazing maintenance (/sarc). It was, and now I don't need to buy a new flush handle. I tried gluing with a metal reinforcement pin, but that broke the day after. This part is still holding up a month later without even needing the set screw! I would make it a thing in progress, but hey, it does its job, I don't care how it looks inside the toilet tank. If it breaks, ill update. Cheers! (See instructions for instructions -- I advise looking at the images to orient yourself to my toilet and any parts I might attempt to name whose variants may be found in yours) Edit: 8/15/2015: This part held up for the rest of my lease, and maintenance got a kick out of it when they replaced the flapper. Great replacement if I do say so myself! Instructions Print 100% infill, 1 shell, .4mm layer height. A raft is recommended, however I did not use one my first time (and last time) printing this and experienced major delamination of layers and detachment from the build platform (using ABS +HBP) at the skinny end of this object. I had to kind of help it, but it works, even with its defects. Next, get your dentist glasses on and grind/Dremel that tooth, err I mean broken Kohler flusher arm, down to a nice stub in preparation for the crown to be attached. So glad I don't have any of those in my mouth. Once it is sufficiently ground down (should just be a square stub sticking into the tank from the flush lever, no corner piece), stick the arm into the hole or whatever pulls up the main plunger thing (black center piece in my pictures), and THEN fiddle with the handle to orient properly and press this Thing onto your freshly ground stump. An 8-32 screw can be screwed into the hole to make sure the lever doesn't fall off (maybe drill into the stump a bit too), or perhaps put some glue in the cavity of the crown, just like a real dentist! I did neither and it fits snug with some nice ABS shrinkage, but there's some options if you want 'em. You also might need to drill a hole in the end if your flush lever uses a chain to pull up the main plunger thing. Mine is cheap and just has a little hole it goes into. Lastly, enjoy your cheap repair and brag to your friends that you fixed your toilet with your 3D printer! Slowly but surely paying for itself..right? :D
