Hello, I imagine you may have wondered here to this part for the same reason so i'll try and explain this the best I can. The cap has two ears on the top of the part that can break off. This was replicated as a quick fix. Literally measured this out and had it designed in 5 minutes. Took 30 minutes to print. Instead of using a hose barb, insert the hose into the center hole. I do recommend you buy the kit with the cap and gaskets, it should be about 9.00 from the big box home improvement store.
