Although this design is quite a departure from the existing design, there are a couple of reason why I went this direction. The rear release is in a very obvious location and therefore must meet the extremely high standards of Koenigsegg quality and styling. If you look around the vehicle circular shapes are very prominent including the start/stop and control center, cup holder, dash vents & speakers and interior door handles. The giant intakes in front of the rear wheels are almost circular. Why put a square peg in a round hole? Round is stronger. Round is easier to manufacture. Round is more pleasing. Details of design: 1.Aluminum Trim Ring (machined) created to match existing trim rings in vehicle interior 2. Carbon Pull cup painted to match body color. 3. Aluminum pull handle (machined) 4.Stainless Backing ring backs up fasteners and provides strength as well as retaining handle pivot pin 5. Integrated return spring. 6. Mechanical advantage is maintained. Aluminum trim ring could possibly be eliminated from front handle location Possibility that pull cup could be molded directly into rocker panel eliminating screws & backing ring. Design will still fit existing environment with slight change to existing rocker mold.
