The long-tailed cuckoo's right coracoid takes center stage, its original specimen safely housed within the Auckland War Memorial Museum's collections under accession number LB15099. A digital replica of this crucial bone was expertly crafted by Daniel Thomas and his team at Massey University's Institute of Natural and Mathematical Sciences using cutting-edge technology. Specifically, they relied on a HP SLS-2 3D Scanner paired with HP 3D scan 5 software to capture the intricate details of the coracoid. Post-processing in Blender 2.74 allowed for meticulous refinement, ensuring an accurate digital representation. Notably, the bounding box that encapsulates this digital bone measures 3.4 x 8 x 25.5 mm.
