Kodak Instamatic Film Resurection Project
thingiverse
As an amateur photographer, I recently purchased a vintage Kodak Instamatic 404 and discovered that the film format was discontinued in 2007. People often ask me about my 3D printers and what they're good for, so I've started a project to re-engineer the 126 film cartridge. This will include creating an easily rechargeable film adapter and other gadgets for these cameras. To do this, I found a patent with drawings but no measurements, which are contained in a withdrawn ISO document. As a result, I bought two cartridges on eBay to take my own measurements. The film is essentially 35mm with a few differences such as registration holes and chemistry. These holes require three "covered" exposures per shot to avoid overlap, but this also presents an opportunity to create a panoramic camera by adjusting the exposure window of the cartridge.
