Kobayashi Fidget Cube - Fat Hinge - Flat
thingiverse
This is a simplified version of pkobayashi's fat-hinged fidget cube, featuring an unchanged structure. I laid out the cubes flat to simplify printing and resolve issues with fused layers. The original model often resulted in the top layer sticking to the bottom due to improper alignment. This new layout eliminates this problem entirely. The robust fat hinges ensure the cube withstands intense "fidgeting" - it's extremely addictive and surprisingly therapeutic. UPDATE 02/2017: If you have dual extruders or multi-color/multi-material capabilities, check out my dual extrusion remix for further enhancements. UPDATE 04/2017: A minor update (v1.1) was made to the model to correct a slightly misaligned hinge. Print Settings: Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: TAZ 6 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.14mm layer height Infill: 20% Notes: This layout allowed me to print a fully functional fidget cube without supports! The print was done in PLA. Post-Printing: Hinge clean-up Some hinges printed sloppily due to overhangs, but they functioned properly after minor cleanup.
