General purpose Kobalt power tool battery adapter. I use copper pipe hangers to make the terminal plates. I use screw inserts and 6-32 screws as the screw terminals. The batteries are well priced at Lowes. I regularly see the Li-ion 1.5Ah 24v battery for $10, and the 2.0Ah 24v battery for $20. They also have a charger for $39. When comparing to all the hassle of RC LiPo batteries, these are way easier to unplug, charge, and swap out. They also have a battery voltage meter built into each battery.

The battery I've been getting for $10: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-24-Volt-1-5-Amp-Hours-Lithium-Power-Tool-Battery/1000090833

The charger: https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-24-Volt-Max-Power-Tool-Battery-Charger/1000102901

The things I use to make my terminals: https://www.lowes.com/pd/AMERICAN-VALVE-1-2-in-to-1-2-in-dia-Copper-Plated-Steel-Milford-Hanger/3223453

The screw inserts I use to hold the screws (Screw-to_expand inserts for Through Holes in Plastics - 6-32): https://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/123/3328/=17jdfht

WARNING - don't allow the terminals on the bottom side to ground across whatever you mount this to. Insulate them. I haven't see what happens when you short out a 24v Li-Ion battery, and I don't want to see it.

I usually print this with PETG. I don't recommend printing it with PLA unless you make the base thicker. It really could be a tad thicker in PETG too.

I print it upside down from what the STL that's I've uploaded reflects. I add supports to the inside overhangs, and to the bottom side notching for the terminals.

I designed this in FreeCad, and I have also attached the FreeCad source file if anyone wants to edit the source objects.
Category: Electronics
