Karsten O'Brien, an Elite Dangerous player who owned one of the first models of the Cobra MkIII, led a relatively uneventful life mining and transporting ore until he reached 40 and decided to seek adventure in space. Despite challenges and initial rejections from Cowell & MgRath, Karsten's love for Cobras inspired him to acquire licenses for building the MkI and MkII, leading to the establishment of a shipyard station and eventually the KOB Corporation, run by his great-grandson Kamden. The corporation revived the production of old Cobra models and used the plans for the MKII to create their own version, the KOB R4.
