Knurled Thumb Nut Caps for Plein Air Easle
thingiverse
The typical plein air French style painting easel uses brass knurled thumb nut to lock legs and adjust canvas holder. These nuts need to be very tight to insure the easel doesn't fold on you. They can be hard on the fingers. I modeled plastic caps to press over the knurling that make it easier on the fingers. The caps are in 2 sizes, smaller ones required for some locations when folded. I printed 2 Large for the front legs, 5 small for the rear leg and canvas supports. They require some force to press on and maybe even heating the brass nut slightly to install. I used a large pliers or C clamp. That is to insure they don't twist or work loose. They can be used anywhere these style thumb nut are needed.
