Knurled Knob for Metric Hexagon Nuts - Parametric
prusaprinters
There are already some knurled knobs for hexagon nuts, but no design is parametric and offers you sizes from M2 to M56!The model uses the dimensions according to DIN 934 (see the attached data sheet). A tolerance of 0.5 mm is set for the nut head size and the internal hexagon. The test printout I created fits perfectly with sizes from M2.5 to M6 (see cover photo). The parametric model is created with FreeCAD 0.21.2 and a configuration table is used containing the DIN 934 dimensions. The configuration table is based on a spreadsheet in FreeCAD. Based on the values, the necessary knurling slots are calculated, which have a distance of approx. 1 mm. No matter whether for the M2 or M56. It would therefore be straightforward to add the values for the imperial system. In FreeCAD the size can then be selected for the part (see the FreeCAD screenshot below left). But please be very very patient with FreeCAD! The larger the size, the longer FreeCAD calculates the knurled slots. With M56 it can take up to half an hour. However, so that you don't have to wait that long, the sizes M2 to M20 are already available as STL and STEP.
