Knurled circular fidget spinner
thingiverse
I think the whole fidget spinner trend is a bit cheesy, but my kids are absolutely obsessed with them right now. As I worked on a project, I had some bearings on my desk and found myself spinning them idly. So, I gave in and designed my own, but I just wanted a simple disc. Nothing too flashy. This design uses pennies for perimeter weighting because you can't get much cheaper than 12 cents per weight compared to $1 or so for three cheap bearings. The center bearing is a standard 608. I wasn't impressed with most of the caps I found, so I designed some simple ones that press together and are quite thin. I made sure there's enough of a shoulder on them to prevent the cap from rubbing against the bearing surfaces. The outside of the disc spinner also features some nice knurling, making it easy to spin fast. The printed image is in Onyx, 50% fill, and 0.1mm Z resolution. Enjoy!
