Knot-style Parametric Function Script ( Python )
thingiverse
The original Python code provides a functional solution to extruding along arbitrary contours, eliminating or superseding MATLAB. This project reacts to Thingiverse's 'Extruded Text' (derived from 'Text Effect') and allows users to specify closed 3D curves as parametric functions of t and 2D cross-sections for extrusion. A unique feature is the ability to define arbitrary cross-sections manually by specifying a "crosssection" matrix. The code also includes an update with knot.py, which defines explicit knot equations and adds integer parameters similar to another Thingiverse model. Users need Python and NumPy; adjust functions, s, and t ranges in the script for stextrude.py output, and may tweak resolution if needed for performance.
