Knobs are created using standard nuts such as M3, M4, M5, M6, M8 and M10, featuring a slightly increased height compared to lock-nuts. After conducting an experiment with various prototypes, two versions were developed: loose-fit knobs, which can be manually inserted, and tight-fit knobs that require gentle force or light hammering. The M4 knob is specifically designed for the CraftBot build plate. Prototyping involved printing at a 0.3mm layer height with five loop iterations and a 2mm skin thickness. Infill density was set to 33%. This design aims to print successfully without any additional support structure requirements. Additional functionality has been incorporated at the base of each knob: a secure anchoring system known as "snappers", ensuring that the nuts remain securely in place, even when inserted using moderate force or hammering. Please adjust the inset parameter in Kisslicer according to your printer's specifications for optimal fit.
