Knob replacement for gas stove
thingiverse
A colleague approached me with a request: design and print a turn knob for his small gas stove, as the original had broken and he couldn't find a replacement. I took on the challenge and created one, which worked perfectly after just two prints. So, I decided to share it with everyone. Note that the valve shaft is 5 mm in diameter, featuring two parallel notches, one on each side, for securing (potentiometer shafts have a single notch for locking). Check out the pictures if you're unsure what this means and ensure you receive the correct part. First, try tightening the knob. If it's loose, apply crazy glue or epoxy to secure it in place. The STL file is labeled "...-0.1mm.stl" because I reduced all faces by 0.1 mm to compensate for average printer tolerances (printers typically make models about 0.2 mm larger in x and y dimensions due to ignored extrusion radius). Preferably, use the provided gcode, which was generated with Simplify 3D for a Creality CR-10S using PLA. However, I placed the knob near the 0,0 corner, rather than the center of the table, so that users with smaller printers can still print it. As for material compatibility, you can manually adjust the temperatures and fan speed as printing begins to accommodate other materials. The model's cooling fan speed is set to zero for layer one, then increases to 100% for layer two and onwards; thus, if necessary, override these settings at the start of the second layer. Enjoy!
