Knob / Pointer for Bowden Extruder Stepper Motor
thingiverse
A small indicator dial for mounting directly onto your extruder stepper motor shafts. This provides a clear view of stepper motor and filament movement. I've been using these indicators for a couple months now, and they're incredibly helpful in visualizing the movement of my stepper motors during prints. They come in handy when printing with multiple extruders. I've designed two styles: one features a flat top surface, while the other has a raised pointer on its face. I printed two versions of the flat-top design using PLA; the first one fit perfectly onto the shaft, but the second required some minor filing to make it fit snugly. If your indicators don't fit well, you can simply scale them up slightly in Slic3r or other slicing software. Slic3r also offers an adjustment that allows you to add or subtract a specific amount from the X and Y dimensions. Using this feature, you can easily increase the size by 0.1 mm if needed. This adjustment is located under Print Settings / Advanced / XY Size Compensation. To make your indicators stand out, try using a marker pen on the pointer or changing the filament color of the raised one where the pointer starts to print. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer Model: Prusa I3 Modified Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: Any Infill: As required Notes: This print doesn't require much critical attention. Printing the flat-top design with the knob face facing down won't need any supports, but the raised-pointer design might require some support. Post-Printing Standard cleanup is necessary. How I Designed This I created this model using Sketchup Make 2016.
