Knob
thingiverse
I had an issue with 3D printed knobs - they're either way too tight or way too loose. Using a small clearance and accounting for inaccuracy, especially in corners, makes the knob nearly impossible to use without filling. A larger clearance results in a knob that's just too loose; it seems like there's no ideal middle ground. This design tackles this problem by modifying the connector - instead of a solid knob with an opening, there's now a hollow knob featuring thin "flaps" that are initially too tight but flexible enough to fit anyway. Additionally, small holes have been incorporated into areas where corners typically over-extrude, eliminating this issue altogether. This design is optimized for use with a 0.4mm nozzle and allows for any desired infill percentage since the critical components are all walls. It was created using Autodesk Fusion 360 and printed on a Robo3D R1+.
