Knob for M5 threaded rod / stud
thingiverse
This is a custom knob tailored specifically for use with any standard M5 threaded rod or stud. I created this design in conjunction with my Shapeoko / Xcarve, which has been upgraded with a T-slot bed. The challenge was finding a reliable way to secure hold-down clamps using M5 studs, but most available knobs lacked the essential thru-hole feature for the stud. To successfully utilize this knob, print it flat-side down on your bed. Ensure the nut socket is clear of any debris by carefully removing excess material with an x-acto knife or a similar tool. Next, press a standard M5 nut into the prepared nut socket from the top side. To further secure the nut in place, attach a M5 screw from the opposite side and add a washer to draw the nut snugly into the nut socket. The hole is intentionally drafted for a precise fit, guaranteeing that once the nut is pressed into place, it will remain securely fastened.
