Knightmare Frame: Z-01 Lancelot
thingiverse
This is the Lancelot mech from Code Geass. It took roughly seven days to complete, encompassing test prints and assembly to ensure proper fitment, as well as printing, painting, and final model assembly. All models were crafted using 123D Design. Certain details had to be altered for incorporation of ball and socket joints, allowing the entire mech to articulate freely and simplifying the printing process. Several parts required double printing due to symmetry: Shoulder, Landspinners, Thigh, Hand, Thigh plate, Sword, Scabbard, Bracer. The components were assembled using superglue, while the ball and sockets easily snapped into place. However, attaching the feet to the legs proved somewhat challenging, and it's essential to assemble the shoulder socket around its corresponding ball. Observations during assembly revealed that joints initially became loose over time, but this issue was resolved by lining the interior of the sockets with thin strips of craft foam. For added flexibility in fingers, sword guards, rifle, and wheels, small pieces of 22-gauge wire were used to enable pivoting. The Lancelot mech was printed using PLA with 10% fill on a Printrbot Simple.
