Recently, I stumbled upon an old "tutorial" that could be from 2005-2007. It's not something I created; instead, I found it and thought you might like it too. The tutorial is available here: http://www.productdesignforums.com/topic/5327-chess-knight-break-down/. An interesting point is that SolidWorks seems ill-suited for this kind of geometry, making the creation of this complex shape still challenging (even after ten years). If you think differently, feel free to share your thoughts. I've used my 2017 SolidWorks model and included steps for everyone else.
