Knight in Prayer (44.25) - no background
sketchfab
This is a remarkably detailed carved stone sculpture, said to be a portrait of Le Chevalier Dunois, a trusted ally of St Joan of Arc. The knight is depicted at prayer, clad in plate armor, yet without a helmet. Possibly cut down from a full-length, likely kneeling figure, the statue may have originally been part of a tomb. The sculpture probably dates back to the 15th century. The sculpture is exceptionally fine, and its depiction of armor is particularly noteworthy for its accuracy, detailing even the smallest nuances. The sculpture was acquired by Sir William Burrell from dealers Acton Surgey in May 1929.
