The chess knight is a piece that moves in an L-shape, two squares horizontally and one square vertically, or one square horizontally and two squares vertically. It is the only piece on the board that can jump over other pieces to land on a new square. This unique movement pattern makes the knight a powerful piece in certain situations, but also vulnerable to attacks from other pieces that can block its path. Despite this, the knight remains an essential part of any chess player's arsenal.
