Full assembled models of Fairbairn-Sykes knives, M7, and M9 bayonets are manufactured. The Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife is developed by William Ewart Fairbairn and Eric Anthony Sykes in Shanghai based on concepts they initiated before World War II while serving on the Shanghai Municipal Police in China. The F-S fighting knife has a double-edged blade resembling a dagger or poignard with a foil grip. The F-S fighting knife gained fame during World War II when issued to British Commandos, the Airborne Forces, the SAS, and many other units, especially for the Normandy landings in June 1944. Its acutely tapered, sharply pointed blade makes it frequently described as a stiletto, a weapon optimized for thrusting. However, the F-S knife is capable of inflicting slash cuts upon an opponent when its cutting edges are sharpened according to specification. The Wilkinson Sword Company manufactures the knife with minor pommel and grip design variations. The M7 bayonet is used by the U.S. military for the M16 rifle and can also be used with the M4 carbine as well as many other assault rifles, carbines, and combat shotguns. It can be used as a fighting knife and utility tool. Introduced in 1964, when the M16 rifle entered service during the Vietnam War. The M9 Bayonet, officially known as the M9 Phrobis III, is a multi-purpose knife and bayonet adopted by the United States in 1986. It has a 7-inch blade and comes with a sheath designed to double as a wire cutter.
