Knife Sharpening Tool for whetstone
thingiverse
This is a remake of CNCKitchen's guide tailored for a larger whetstone and a unique handle. The end of the whetstone measures 30.07mm x 59.15mm; the length isn't crucial since you'll move the clamps to fit, so the clamp STL should accommodate this. I've added a new clamp using 16mm Velcro (hook and loop) that fits any stone size. Use the parametric file to make the rectangular cutout smaller if you want to use smaller Velcro. The guides and sphere are resized to fit a 10mm rod because the whetstone is heavier, so I made it bigger. I've included a Fusion360 file for the sphere, allowing you to adjust the guide hole size. For other parts, follow CNCKitchen's checklist since they're the same (nuts, bolts etc). To clarify, you'll need 2 x 10mm rods for this project; check the length of the one for the stone before cutting it so you can comfortably pull it back and forth without it slipping out the guide. All clamps, the sphere, and handle have been made parametric with Fusion360 files for each, enabling you to input your own dimensions to suit. Added a parametric file for the clamps allowing you to measure your own whetstone and enter your desired width and height. It already includes 0.4mm tolerance in the clamp, so enter the exact measurements of the stone and it should result in a snug fit if your printer is set up correctly. You can also adjust the diameter of the hole now. To use this, open the parametric clamp v3.f3d file, choose modify, click "change parameters," and add your width and height measurements to the WIDTH and HEIGHT "expression" columns, pressing enter after each change. Click done when finished. Same process for changing the diameter. To save the STL file, right-click "parametric clamp v3" under browser on the left, choose save to STL, click OK, and select where you want it saved; click save and you'll have your file ready to print. If you have any questions, let me know. Updated: The Fusion360 file now allows for diameter change of rod/tube. I may be adding a new style clamp soon that will fit all stone sizes; I'm just waiting for some things to arrive so I can test it. Added Parametric file for the guide sphere so you can edit to suit your rod/tube diameter (HOLEDIAMETER in Parameters). This should slide through easily, so add 0.8-1.0mm. Made a new clamp for use with 16mm Velcro (hook and loop) that fits any stone size. Also made a new handle. Both have parametric files for them. Just a heads up: I printed the new clamps and handle at .32 and they came out great, so you may want to print at that as it had no negative effects and it also saves time.
