While I found the original design makes sharpening more annoying and less precise for me, it accidentally solved one problem that I previously had. The glue in my two-part wetstone dissolved so now I had two individual halves which of course still worked, but made the total height so low, my knuckle was scraping on the desk. The wetstone holder of the design almost solved this issue. So here in this design I further increased the height and modified the "trench" to go fully around since I noticed that it was catching water that was previously dripping on my desk.
