Here are three file formats available by default: .blend, which contains settings ready for render just like previews; .fbx, where only the model itself is stored in its basic form before subdivision, and .obj with similar settings as the .fbx. A blend file includes a camera and three light sources tied to an empty object named Lights, so you can manipulate them freely. This 3D object is centered perfectly with appropriate dimensions for the best render possible. Its materials, which come with the model in .blend format, are labeled well to let you easily replace or adjust them if needed at any time. Be careful: Materials applied won't show up in earlier versions of Blender than 2.79, so violet or black colors seen on object surfaces only require a quick update. Subdivision level two is set as default within the .blend file – note that this modifier isn't locked down for good; you're free to change it if you prefer an adjustment at any stage. For Obj and Fbx models without subdivision by default, transfer them freely into your chosen software to then apply your own level of subdivision there; polygons count including tris will stay before any subdivision has been applied.
