Created by skilled artisans in Cambodia, this imposing sculpture is crafted from stone with remarkable precision. Measuring 48 1/4 inches tall and 31 inches deep, the Kneeling Male Attendant stands as a testament to the artistic prowess of its time. The head, measuring 18 inches in height, is a marvel of detail, while the body, standing at 30 1/4 inches tall and 23 1/2 inches wide, exudes power and serenity. Classified as a sculpture of immense cultural significance, this piece was gifted to the Metropolitan Museum of Art by Douglas Latchford in honor of Martin Lerner in 1992.
