Kneeling figure
myminifactory
Unearthed near Luoyang, capital city of the Eastern Zhou dynasty (770-256 BCE), this diminutive sculpture of a kneeling figure grasping a tube-like container in outstretched hands may have functioned as a torchbearer within a tomb. The subject is draped in a snug-fitting garment that envelops from left to right and secured with a narrow band. A head covering, resembling an open helmet, is broad at the rear and rises to a pointed top before tapering into a narrow, tongue-shaped strip at the brow.\r\n________\r\nThis artifact was scanned by The Minneapolis Institute of Art.
