Kneeling Angel
myminifactory
The positions of arms and hands suggest that this angel and its companion originally served as candlestands on either side of an altar. Candles were used during Mass to illuminate the altar and symbolize Christ as a source of light. They were purchased from Palazzo Strozzi in Florence and probably originated from a church supported by the Strozzi family, who were influential bankers.
