Knee / Elbow Joint
thingiverse
This is my debut public upload on the site, featuring a rotational knee-elbow joint in one axis. My primary intention isn't showcasing the file itself but rather demonstrating the innovative technique that enabled this joint to print seamlessly in one piece straight from the bed. The joint comprises a cylindrical component with a precision revolved cut allowing two separate parts of the cylinder to be securely attached to different shafts. I hope my sketch effectively conveys the intricacies of the cut involved. Notably, I achieved a tolerance of 0.5mm, but also experimented with a tighter 0.3mm setting, which still allowed for rotation albeit with some resistance – a desirable outcome in specific applications. The file measures approximately 22mm in length, 20mm in height, and 30mm in width, featuring a 7.1mm square hole designed to facilitate connections with other components. If I've inadvertently omitted any crucial information, please don't hesitate to bring it to my attention.
