KJB Solar Finder

KJB Solar Finder

thingiverse

This gadget is a must-have for anyone passionate about Solar Astronomy. I designed this small, versatile finder specifically to make photographing the Sun - such as during an eclipse - easier and more precise. By leveraging the principle of a pinhole camera, it projects the Sun's image onto a screen at the rear of the finder, allowing you to accurately aim your telescope at the Sun without actually looking directly at the Sun. The base is currently designed to fit seamlessly into a William Optics finder base, but can be easily adapted for other types. You will also need a small translucent disk as a projection screen - this can be quickly made by cutting it out of an empty plastic milk bottle.
