The issue lies with the shader, specifically with how it handles eye rendering. Switching to CubedShaders will resolve this problem. To achieve a cutout effect, set the render mode and then lower the Alpha Cutoff to its minimum setting. Additionally, take note that the eyes are configured as dynamic bones; make sure to exclude them from any dynamic bone settings applied to the model. Despite having decimated it for VRChat compatibility, I now have this working.
