My Kitfox airplane was in desperate need of an upgrade to the control stick grip and PTT button. I quickly discovered that LizardGrip bike grips with locking rings would fit the OD of the control stick perfectly, making them the ideal solution. I opted for "LizardGrip Bearclaw" due to its exceptional quality. The push-button is a UR168 model featuring an internal 12-24vdc LED that illuminates the blue ring surrounding the button, creating a visually appealing effect. This switch has a great haptic feedback which I thoroughly enjoy. The thread of the pushbutton measures M16x1.0, and I was pleased to find that the model comes with threads already built in. After printing the adapter, I ran a tap through it to clean up any imperfections, ensuring a smooth installation process. Threading the 3D printed adapter eliminated the need for the provided nut, making the assembly much easier. The lower locking ring of the LizardGrip securely locks against the control stick, while the upper locking ring holds the button adapter in place, providing a snug fit. To neaten up the wiring and make future control stick removal easier, I used 4pin JST SM male/female connectors.
