Kite Hydrofoil Front Wing - Fully 3D printed
thingiverse
I designed this front wing to fly without lamination straight out of the printer. The wing has two embedded stainless steel rods that are 42cm long and 8x8mm square. Wing specs include a span of 52cm, a chord of 26cm, and a profile of H105. Its surface area is 1000cm2 with a -3 degree washout towards the tips. The wing weighs 1400grams, consisting of 900grams of PLA and steel rods. Mounting hardware includes M8. The wing has stainless steel rods inside, but I made the holes 8.5mm to facilitate insertion, as it was difficult otherwise. I had to hammer the rods into the middle part, which was printed with 8.2 mm holes. I flew this wing with a friend and it performed very well. However, there's a slight problem - the wing is now heavier at 1600 grams due to water absorption. It should be painted or sealed before use.
