KitchenAid KSMPEXTA Pasta Disc Holder

The first generation KitchenAid pasta extruder attachment (KPEXTA) had a disc holder that attached to the top of the attachment. Unfortunately, this feature was eliminated in the second generation design (KSMPEXTA), so I decided to create my own, based loosely on the original design. IMHO, this design is better because you can stand the attachment "upside-down" on top of the holder for storage. Print Settings Printer Brand: Creality Printer: Ender 3 Rafts: No Supports: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 40% Filament: Overture PETG White Notes: The only area that might need support is the filleted edge around the bottom. I printed it with support, just for completeness sake, but the support structure ended up being two lines wide and one layer thick. As for infill, the only sections that end up getting infill are the "stems" that hold the disc in place. I used a standard 40%, but probably any infill would work. How I Designed This I looked at as many images of the first-generation OEM disc holder I could find online. It was a clear, domed structure with a flange that attached to the feed chute end of the extruder. The first thing I did was ditch the dome end, which would have been a more involved design and would also require a lot of support. That left me with a cylindrical oval. I stuck with the capacity of five discs, although it might be possible to squeeze in a sixth. The diameter of the discs determined the width of the oval and the depth of the cylinder, and I used those dimensions and the dimensions from the attachment to the extruder to determine the length of the oval. I finished the design off by filleting the rim of the base and chamfering the transition from the holder to the attachment flange to eliminate the need for support. Category: Kitchen & Dining
