When my trusty KitchenAid food processor's safety mechanism gave out, I had two clear choices: fork over cash for a brand new bowl or send the whole shebang back for a refund. Luckily, this fix was a breeze to implement and gives me a permanent solution to bypass that broken safety feature in the bowl. Please be aware that this modification WILL make your food processor more hazardous to operate, as it essentially disables the safety mechanism designed to prevent the machine from running without the lid securely locked into place. That being said, this fix gets the job done and is far less of a hassle than dealing with KitchenAid's flimsy 4-levered handle design.
