# Background My workbench is unfinished cabinets from Lowes or [Home Depot](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Hampton-Bay-Hampton-24-in-W-x-24-in-D-x-34-5-in-H-Assembled-Base-Kitchen-Cabinet-in-Unfinished-KB24-UF/302970315) with a [laminate top](https://www.homedepot.com/p/Hampton-Bay-Wilsonart-8-ft-Straight-Laminate-Countertop-in-Textured-Anzio-Marble-with-Waterfall-Edge-and-Integrated-Backsplash-011312010895037/315626726). It's basically a kitchen cabinet and counter top. I really liked [Alexander Chapel's design](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4160793) and printed several of his boxes, but they don't fit my drawer. I even made several boxes with a laser engraver and the inkscape plugin, but since I had plans to build the drawer around the boxes like Alexander, they didn't fit in my drawers very well. I really like [these boxes](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5367239), but they don't print well with a 1mm nozzle and I wanted to use less filament and maximize the drawer space. I've been meaning to learn [OpenSCAD](https://openscad.org/) for a while and finally decided to ask ChapGPT how do this. Turns out it was easier than I thought. # Customizing the boxes Open the scad file and change the parameters to your drawer size and the nxm array of boxes to fill the drawer. Preview it with the ``box_arrary()`` function. Be sure to comment out the render functions you do not want to export or preview. You can then export a single box or a box with dividers. # Printer Settings I used a 1mm nozzle and wanted the walls to 2 perimeters. I also used the draft settings at 0.32mm layer height. I used the `Spiralize Outer Contour` setting, which seems to help with make the PETG less stringy. # Possible revisions - Add fillets - Taper the sides (Like Alexander's) - Add a tab/handle for labels - Make dividers asymmetric for specific applications like certain tools or batteries
