KIS extruder - direct drive Nema 17 & Mk8 for 1.75 filament
thingiverse
KIS-(Keep It Simple) Mk1 extruder for 1.75mm filament is the ultimate in simplicity and ease of use. Using inspiration from all over the internet, I have created an adjustable tension Direct Drive (DD) extruder based on a Nema 17 and a Mark 8 filament drive bush. The push fit fitting for Bowden tubes was designed by combining ideas from the V6 kit supplied by E3D. A simple procedure allows you to insert a fitting that sits snugly in a 10mm diameter hole, 10mm deep. To secure it firmly in place, two short lengths of 1.75mm filament can be threaded through pre-drilled holes and attached using 2mm drill bits. Additional support is achieved by applying a small amount of hot glue. Required Parts List: Mark 8 drive bush Spring (18mm long x 8mm OD) M3 Allen socket head, 20mm length - three pieces M3 Allen socket head, 16mm length - one piece M3 Allen socket head, 12mm length - one piece M4 Allen socket head, 10mm length - one piece SKF bearing, type 624-2Z As an alternative to the spring guide bolt, you can use a single M4 Allen head screw with 10mm length. Update April 8th, 2015: A new version of the lever and body were released under designation R1, along with some minor adjustments to the design's geometry. Update April 5th, 2015: I have added a simple bracket option that requires longer screws - M3 X 25.
