I've been testing some drone mapping software on an undisclosed spot in Pittsfield, MA. This area was initially used as an evaporation pond to prevent stormwater from overloading the local infrastructure until a beaver turned it into its own personal wetland. The result was surprisingly beautiful, with Great Blue Herons, Egrets, and waterfowl moving in. However, since it wasn't officially designated as a natural wetland, humans intervened and removed the beaver dam - and likely the beaver itself - to restore it to its original purpose.
