Kirkdale House 4
sketchfab
Decimated model of Kirkdale House's largest carved rock, stored at Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway, demands restricted access. The origins of this panel remain unverified. It currently occupies a central position inside the shed, surrounded by other intricately carved blocks. The composition of the motifs is remarkably intricate. Noticeably, flaking has occurred on two edges, causing surface detaching. The newly exposed, smooth surfaces were then skillfully re-carved in one instance, attempting to restore the original motif. A diverse range of motifs are depicted here, including cup-and-rings and keyholes, showcasing a masterful blend of craftsmanship and artistic expression.
