Kings of War Miniatures Game Large Infantry Horde Base Athena
thingiverse
I'm working on a miniature wargame base using Mantic Games' Kings of War as inspiration. The Basilean Elohi army will be the focus, and to add character to the base, I incorporated CosmoWenman's Athena of Velletri into the design, turning her into a ruined structure for visual interest. To simplify the complex mesh, but still showcase the intricate details, the model remains remarkably detailed despite having significantly reduced polygons. The print settings utilized a SeeMeCNC Rostock MAX with no rafts or supports. A 0.2mm resolution and infill density were chosen to achieve optimal results. During post-printing, I applied smoothing ABS techniques using an acetone vapor chamber for two hours, following the procedure outlined in the Make: Magazine article. The base itself was designed in Autodesk Fusion 360, where the initial layout and structural elements were established. For further detailing and refinement of the finished model, Meshmixer was employed to achieve a polished appearance.
