The KINGROON KP3 head features only one cooling fan and part of the airflow is redirected towards filament cooling. This fan operates at a constant 100% due to direct connection to the power supply, ensuring consistent filament cooling. Further investigation revealed that the KINGROON KP3 firmware and control board have an independent filament cooling capability, allowing for external filament fans to be connected. A search online led to a compressed file containing STL data of the cooling duct at https://github.com/houseofbugs/KingroonKP3/. The relevant file is Printable STL Upgrades/NO ABL Mount - Layer Fan Upgrade/5015 Layer Fan Upgrade (No EZABL Mount).zip. Initial printing attempts were thwarted due to changed specifications of the KINGROON KP3's hot end mounting position since the original data was created, preventing duct support installation. To rectify this, the original duct support stl file was modified. Direct STL file editing is not feasible; hence, it was converted to solid data (STEP) using FreeCAD and then imported into Fusion 360 for correction. The revised file is denoted as duct support_V2.stl. For optimal printing, heat-resistant PETG or ABS with blocked supports at the holes are recommended. When installing, remove the hot end heater and sensor of KINGROON KP3 and insert it from the right side. The duct body remains unchanged as per the original data KingroonKP3_5015TH3DFanDuct_V2.stl. A 5015 24V fan was procured from https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B07MMHWXQQ/. However, the attached cable length is insufficient, necessitating an extension cable of approximately 60 cm utilizing the XH connector. It is essential to note that the connectors on the fan and board are opposite in polarity, with the Z-axis motor side being +. The fan guard stl file (Fan guard.stl) was created due to filament damage caused by inserting sample filaments into the cooling fan during printer purchase. Furthermore, a SD card guard (SD guard.stl) was designed to address concerns regarding the large gap between the SD card slot and case. This led to incorrect insertion positions and protruding card butts when inserted. The data will be uploaded alongside this document. Please affix it to the body using double-sided tape.
