King Kong Fly Egg 130 Run Cam Split Mini Canopy
thingiverse
I recently bought the Run Cam split mini to install on my King Kong Fly Egg 130, unfortunately, with the standard aluminum top frame the split mini wouldn't fit onto the stack so I was forced to create one for myself, the thing is, what I came up with. This is by far the most elaborate design I've come up with considering I've only designed some things for in and around the house, nothing on this scale, I have to say, I think it turned out pretty well, I'll be testing it and see how durable it is, but it looks pretty tough. There's definitely room for improvement, this is only what I came up with after 2 days of battling with Fusion 360, hehe, sure was fun as I think this was the most I learned in the least amount of time! Feel free to try it yourself, I've designed it with an opening on the sides so you can still get to all the electronics and buttons for the split mini. I've also included a cut-out section in the back for the LED strip, this I installed with a small helping of hot glue. The canopy mounts with the screws that were used on the aluminum canopy, so no need to go out for additional hardware. If you have any recommendations for improvements please feel free to let me know and I'll see how I can incorporate them into this design. Update: Unfortunately, the Chinese Spektrum receiver I received with the quad decided to stop working, and all the regular sized receivers I have are a bit larger than the Chinese version, so I had to further increase the internal size to accommodate the receiver on top of the stack. For those who have the same situation you can print v19, if you have the original receiver that fits underneath between the battery and the frame, then you can print the other option. For me, I now have both the receiver and the VTX sitting on top of the stack, still a bit of a tight fit, but everything does fit nicely when the components are placed correctly. You'll note the updated one has a bit more space cut into the inner top side of the canopy. I also customized the antenna on this receiver with an extended antenna wire, so I was able to fit mine on the outside of the canopy with ease, for people using the original Spektrum receivers, I don't know what effect the plastic will have on your reception, it should not have an effect but just test it before going full throttle. Update 2: So I ended up having some video issues and had to install CL Filters and Capacitors to clear up video issues. I ended up having to dramatically change the design, it's not that much larger than any of the original designs but in order to get as much space inside of the design I ended up having to redesign the canopy quite a lot. The current upload is a bit higher than the previous one, by 5mm but the redesign on the exterior made for much more space inside, I was able to fit my Spektrum satellite comfortably including all the capacitors and video filters to clear up video without an issue. In fact, there's too much space in there. I will at a later stage drop the height a bit as it is a bit high at the moment, I was, in fact, able to fit my VTS (the one that came with the quad) upright in order to get to the channel switch as well. Trust me, there's a lot of space in this little canopy, and all that without increasing the size too much. Let me know what you think.
