King Kalakaua was honored by his wife Queen Kapiolani with a poi supper table on his 50th birthday as a special gift. This table is now displayed in the Queen's bedroom at Iolani Palace for all visitors to see. The Friends of Iolani Palace are dedicated to preserving, restoring, interpreting, sharing and celebrating the one-of-a-kind cultural, historical and spiritual qualities of Iolani Palace and its grounds for the benefit of Native Hawaiians, Hawaii residents and people worldwide.
