The helmet was crafted in southern Germany around 1540, standing out as one of the few surviving helmets to boast a majestic crown. Acquired by Claus Heijder, the merchant working on behalf of the King, it is believed that this distinctive helmet took part in Gustav Vasa's funeral procession in 1560, given that a witness to the event described a helmet adorned with a gilded crown. The gleaming crown itself displays medieval flair, fittingly representing Gustav Vasa, whose allegiance was divided between the old union and his newly established hereditary monarchy.
