Kinetic Mobius Kaleidocycle Box
thingiverse
I stumbled upon a wedding ring box video on Reddit that completely won me over with its design. Edit: If you're interested, the original is available at instagram.com/degreesoffreedomco/, featuring both wood and metal options, plus a shot of it holding a ring in place. As a Fusion 360 newbie, I saw this as an opportunity to tackle the movement's replication and see if it could be successfully 3D printed. I had some tiny magnets that I heat-fused into position, but since I didn't have access to small screws, I was forced to use nails for the joints! The thought of using anything other than proper fasteners gave me the heebie-jeebies. To add extra security, I also heat-fused them in place. For my next iteration, I plan on upgrading to thread inserts and precise M2 screws.
