Kinesis Advantage WS2812 RGB led strip mount
thingiverse
This is an RGB backlight mod for Kinesis Advantage keyboards using a Stapelberg or other Teensy-based controller. ### Original Controller Adding a Teensy to the internal USB hub allows this mod to be done with the original controller. However, you'll miss out on benefits like keyboard shortcuts for controlling animations. That's not covered here. Instead, consider scoring a Stapelberg PCB and parts, then installing QMK, which brings your Kinesis Advantage to a whole new level. ### Led Strip A WS2812 led strip, 1 meter, with 60 LEDs is needed. This can be found on Aliexpress for around 4-5€. However, using 60 LEDs may draw too much current, so consider sticking to 54 LEDs instead. ### Update: Thumbcluster Connector in the Way Make sure to solder the cable connector onto each thumb cluster on the back of the PCB, ensuring it doesn't interfere with the LED mounts. For the Advantage 2, this is particularly important because its connectors differ and are factory-soldered on the front side of the PCB.
