Kineflex Pre-Alignment Tool
prusaprinters

This tool can be used to pre-align a KineFLEX laser beam to fiber coupler. Once pre-aligned, it is much easier to get good coupling into the fiber launch. I've been able to print these standing up without using a brim, but if you have bed adhesion issues, a brim may be necessary. I've been printing them in PLA with a 0.3 layer height. It is advisable to use a light color and limit the laser power to avoid damaging the internal aperture.

Here's the pre-alignment procedure I follow:

Adjust all 4 alignment screws to the middle position

Insert the tool with the aperture (notched end) at the output end.

Mount the KineFLEX so that the beam is passing through the aperture.

Turn the adjustment screws at the output end for maximum output

Flip the tool around so that the aperture is near the input end.

Turn the adjustment screws at the input end for maximum output

At this point, the beam is passing straight through the middle of the mount. Remove the tool and Insert the fiber launch. You should see some output. Peak the power by making small adjustments to the alignment screws. It may help to adjust both horizontal screws or both vertical screw in order to keep the coupler parallel to the beam path.
